Lucie was designed in 1931 by Clinton H. Crane and built by Nevins for Briggs Cunningham the Americas Cup skipper and came to the Solent as one of the US team for the British-American Trophy races which the US won in four straight races. After that little is known by me at least of her subsequent life until a photograph of her in very poor condition was sent to me a short while ago. Certainly since then she has been totally restored and brought up to date (for a Classic) by Matt Brooks, finishing 6th (out of 45) at the 2011 Classic Worlds at Helsinki; 5th place at the 2012 Europeans at Nynashamn, winning the August Ringvold Cup and 5th in the Classic World Championships at Flensburg.
